Why remap with us

Chip tuning done the engineering way — one custom map per ECU, proven with data.

Anyone can download a file off the internet and flash it into your car. That is exactly what we refuse to do. Every ECU remapping job here starts by reading your ECU's original software, and ends with a validation drive with live data logs — with an optional partner-dyno session that puts the gains on paper. It is part of our engine tuning services, and it is the difference between chip tuning that lasts and a cheap file that cooks a clutch.

  • Main BHP UK agent in Cyprus — custom maps written per individual ECU file by BHP UK's calibration team, never generic downloads
  • Engineer-led tuning — overseen by Anninos Vrachimis, BEng + MEng Automotive Engineering (Teesside, UK), formerly of Mercedes-Benz and BMW workshops
  • Road-tested & partner-dyno validated — before/after power and torque graphs available on request
  • Fully reversible — your original ECU file is archived before we write a single byte
  • Free written quote first — send your registration and modification list on WhatsApp, approve before anything happens
  • Free collection & delivery island-wide for remap jobs — your car can be tuned without you leaving home

Which stage is right for your car?

The stages describe how far the tuning goes — from software-only chip tuning to a fully built engine. If you're not sure where your car sits, our plain-English guide to ECU remapping walks through it, or just ask us on WhatsApp.

Stage 1 — software only

A custom remap on completely standard hardware. We read your original file and BHP UK writes a new calibration for it: fuelling, boost pressure, injection and ignition timing, torque limiters. Works on turbo-diesels, turbo petrols and — with a conservative calibration around the electric side — many hybrids. Naturally aspirated engines gain less but pick up sharper throttle response. The best value-for-money step, and fully reversible.

Stage 2 — map + supporting hardware

For forced-induction engines that want more than the standard hardware can flow: high-flow intake, intercooler upgrade, exhaust or downpipe changes — with the map rewritten to use the extra airflow properly, not a Stage 1 file on Stage 2 parts. Emissions-relevant hardware is discussed honestly at quote stage, because it affects MOT and road legality.

Stage 3 — the full build

Big-turbo or hybrid-turbo conversions, uprated injectors and fuel pumps, clutch and drivetrain upgrades, and a dedicated custom mapping programme with road logging plus partner-dyno sessions. This is project territory — planned in writing, built in-house on our 11 ramps, and proven with before/after power and torque graphs.

Economy maps

Not chasing power? An economy remap works for your fuel bill instead.

Chip tuning isn't only about speed. An economy map shifts the engine's torque delivery lower in the rev range and smooths the throttle calibration, so the car pulls the same daily loads at lower revs. For commuters doing the Paralimni–Ayia Napa run every day, and especially for fleets — delivery vans, taxis, rental runabouts — the fuel saving over a year of typical driving can be meaningful. We frame those savings honestly as typical ranges, never guarantees: see the worked example calculation in our article on economy remaps and fuel saving.

Fleet operators: ask about mapping several vehicles in a scheduled batch, with free collection and delivery island-wide so the vans never stop earning.

Proof of work

Mitsubishi Evo IX — 276 bhp from the factory, 700 bhp when we finished.

Talk is cheap in tuning, so here is our benchmark: a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX that came to us with the standard 276 bhp and left as a documented 700 bhp build — engine hardware, fuelling and a fully custom map developed over repeated road and dyno sessions, with the result validated on our partner dyno. Every stage of the build was measured, not guessed. That is the same discipline we apply to a Stage 1 diesel hatchback: read, calibrate, test, prove.

Tuesday Tuners' Day — 20% off tuning work

Every Tuesday, remapping, EGR work and power tuning are 20% off. Slots go first-come, first-served — WhatsApp your registration today and Despina will book you into the next available Tuesday.

How it works

From WhatsApp message to validated map in four steps.

Step 1

WhatsApp your reg + mods

Send your registration number and a list of any modifications to +357 96 350 642. That tells us the exact engine, ECU family and starting point — no guesswork.

Step 2

Free written quote

You get a written quote for the recommended stage, expected gains for your engine, and timing. Free, no obligation — and honest about what your car does and doesn't need.

Step 3

Map day

We health-check the car first, read and archive the original ECU file, and flash the custom map written for it by BHP UK. Most Stage 1 jobs are finished the same day.

Step 4

Validation drive — dyno optional

Every car leaves after a road test with live data logs. Want the numbers on paper? Add a partner-dyno session with before/after power and torque graphs.

Legality & safety, straight

Is remapping legal in Cyprus? Yes — and here's the honest fine print.

ECU remapping is legal in Cyprus. A properly calibrated map respects the engine's mechanical limits — that's why ours are custom-written per ECU and tested before handover, never pulled from a generic database. Two things we will always discuss openly at quote stage: warranty — a dealer can detect a remap, and a manufacturer may decline warranty claims on affected components, so on newer cars we explain the risk before you decide; and emissions hardware — a remap itself doesn't touch your MOT, but removing DPF or EGR systems has emissions and MOT implications, so during the free estimate we advise what is appropriate for road cars and what belongs off-road only. We'll also suggest you notify your insurer of performance modifications.

If a car isn't healthy enough to tune — tired clutch, boost leak, injector on its way out — we tell you before mapping, not after. A remap should be the reward at the end of good maintenance, never a mask over a fault.

Remapping questions, answered

Frequently asked questions about ECU remapping & chip tuning in Cyprus.

Is ECU remapping legal in Cyprus?

Yes — remapping the ECU is legal in Cyprus. A properly written map keeps the engine inside safe operating limits and does not affect the MOT as long as the emissions equipment stays in place. Where the rules do get involved is emissions hardware: removing a DPF or EGR system has emissions and MOT implications, so during the free estimate we advise what is appropriate for road use and what belongs only on off-road or track vehicles. We also recommend telling your insurer about any performance modification.

Will a remap void my manufacturer warranty?

We answer this honestly: a remap can be detected by a dealer, and a manufacturer may decline warranty claims on affected components such as the engine or drivetrain. On a car still inside its factory warranty we explain that risk before writing anything — some customers proceed, others choose an economy map or wait until the warranty expires. Because we archive your original ECU file, the software can be returned to standard at any time, and as an authorized Honda, Isuzu & Kia service centre we can advise brand by brand.

How long does a remap take?

A Stage 1 remap is usually a same-day job: reading the original file, having the custom map written for your exact ECU, flashing it and road-testing typically takes a few hours, so many customers wait or take a courtesy car. Stage 2 and Stage 3 involve hardware, so timing depends on parts — the schedule is agreed in your free written quote before we begin. Free collection and delivery island-wide is available for remap jobs if you would rather not travel.

What gains can I expect from a remap?

It depends on the engine, so we quote your car's expected figures in the free written estimate instead of promising a headline number. As a guide, a Stage 1 map on a modern turbo-diesel typically gains in the region of 20–30% more power and torque, a turbocharged petrol around 15–25%, while a naturally aspirated engine responds far less — usually 5–10%. Hybrids are mapped conservatively around the electric system. Stage 2 and 3 go further because the hardware changes with the software, and any figure we quote can be validated on the partner dyno with before/after graphs.

Can a remap be reversed?

Yes, completely. Before we write anything, we read your ECU and archive the original factory file. If you sell the car, need a dealer visit, or simply change your mind, we flash the original software back and the ECU is exactly as the factory left it. The original file stays archived with us so it can be restored whenever you ask.
